Staff Spotlight: Sharon Marbury, Speech Language Pathologist

Sharon Marbury didn’t always know she’d end up in a hospital setting, working side by side with patients facing some of the most vulnerable moments of their lives. But she always knew she wanted to help people.
“I always knew I wanted to be in a helping profession,” she says.
That calling shaped every step of her journey. Sharon’s path began at the University of Alabama, where she earned her Bachelor of Science degree, followed by a Master of Science in Speech-Language Pathology from Florida State University. It was during her early clinical experiences that she discovered a deep connection to adult and geriatric care.
She was drawn to the complexity of cognitive and swallowing challenges – and to the quiet but profound victories that come with helping a patient speak again, safely swallow food, or process thoughts more clearly. Those moments, she says, never get old.
Eventually, Sharon found her way to TriVent Healthcare at the University of Alabama at Birmingham Hospital. What brought her there wasn’t just the job, but the kind of environment she had always hoped to work in.
“I love the small unit and the rehabilitation staff,” she says.
At TriVent, Sharon found more than a workplace. She found a team. The intimate, collaborative setting allows her to do the kind of focused, personalized work she values most, alongside teammates who support one another and celebrate progress together.
She believes what truly sets TriVent apart is its leadership and structure. With thoughtful staffing ratios and strong support from management, clinicians can spend meaningful time with each patient, without sacrificing quality or care.
Outside of the hospital, Sharon recharges by being in nature. Whether she’s running or working in her garden, she finds energy and calm in the outdoors, a balance that keeps her centered and grounded.
For Sharon, speech therapy isn’t just about clinical outcomes. It’s about restoring dignity, rebuilding independence, and helping people return to the parts of life they love most. And it’s that quiet, steady commitment to care that makes her such a vital part of the TriVent team.
