Staff Spotlight: Chris Chapman
As the leader in ventilator liberation, Special Care Providers needs a top-notch team to provide industry-leading care to patients. Chris Chapman, Respiratory Manager at the University of Alabama at Birmingham Hospital, is exceeding these standards every single day.
Chris joined the SCU team in 2016 and currently oversees all respiratory duties on the Birmingham unit. He also advises the Progressive Care Unit staff at Tampa General Hospital.
Chris said he has the utmost respect and praise for these teams, which makes his job easy for him to love.
“The family atmosphere is my favorite thing about Special Care Providers. From our CEO, Sam Nimah, to our team on the ground here in Alabama, we’re just a big family,” Chris said.
The Alabama native has been in the medical field for 27 years, spending the majority of his career in long-term acute care. When Chris made the transition to ventilator liberation, he wanted a chance to venture out of his comfort zone, while staying in the field that holds a special place in his heart.
“I was drawn to healthcare because it was truly the only career I knew. My mom and aunt were nurses, and my stepfather was a Respiratory Therapist, so naturally, I gravitated toward the medical field,” Chris said.
Chris earned his associate degree in Respiratory Care from California College for Health Sciences and his Bachelor of Science in Business Management from Faulkner University in Montgomery, Alabama.
Chris is proud to be part of this growing company and strives to continue to build on Special Care Providers’ success in ventilator liberation.
Out of the ‘office’, Chris is a homebody who loves being around his kids and grandchildren and working on his project car.
