As a part of our series about business leaders who are shaking things up in their industry, I had the pleasure of interviewing Sam Nimah.
After several years as an executive at two Fortune 100 companies, Sam Nimah, MBA, CPA became the CEO and owner of TriVent Healthcare in March 2014. While healthcare has always been one of Nimah’s passions, he also fell in love with the positive clinical impact the company has on its patients. Currently, he serves on the Board of Advisors for The Center for Supply Chain Management at The University of Florida and is a member of the Young Presidents Organization of Palm Beach. Nimah earned his Bachelor of Accounting from the University of Florida and his Master of Business Administration from Florida Atlantic University.
Thank you so much for doing this with us! Before we dig in, our readers would like to get to know you a bit more. Can you tell us a bit about your “backstory”? What led you to this particular career path?
My journey in the healthcare industry started with a deep sense of purpose and a desire to make a positive impact on people’s lives. I have a true passion not only for healthcare itself and the positive clinical impact TriVent has on its patients, but also for the way I get to help our team achieve their goals. There’s immense potential in revolutionizing patient care and improving health outcomes, and TriVent is proving exactly that through our commitment to making the patient experience exceptional, while delivering outcomes not seen anywhere else. This allows our team to feel immense satisfaction in delivering care and seeing the fruit of their work.
Can you tell our readers what it is about the work you’re doing that’s disruptive?
At TriVent Healthcare, our mission is to disrupt the healthcare industry by leveraging innovative approaches to address critical challenges in patient care. We’re spearheading advancements in ventilator care, for example, by developing state-of-the-art solutions that enhance patient comfort, improve treatment efficiency, and ultimately save lives. By allowing our staff to work to the top of their scope of practice, we are creating more accountability, making significant strides in patient care and redefining industry standards. On a TriVent Care Unit, patients experience an average length of stay of 21 days, resulting in a remarkable 32% decrease compared to the national average. Our ventilator liberation rate excels at over 85%, surpassing the national average by nearly 40%. Within 30 days of discharge, our readmission rate is impressively below 6%, a substantial 80% lower than the national average. TriVent is setting a precedent for the healthcare industry, and I’m proud to lead our team as we continue along this path.
